With bright sunshine forecast all day it was a good opportunity to get up early and head over to Kirton Creek to see if would could spot the deer that Mag had seen when returning from her early morning bike ride on Mon and Tues after I had dropped her off at the Shell garage on the A14 on my way to work! So we were up at at six, pastries heated and flask made we headed down to the prom just in time to see a lovely sunrise:) It was then through the docks busy with lorries heading off, it was nice to get away from the roads and out tree lined avenue to Loompit lake was stunning, spotting loads of geese in the fields. The River Orwell was nice in the still airs and the highlight was a marsh harrier flying right over our heads:) There were loads of waders making the most of the mud, mainly Godwits, after passing the marina and around Kirton Creek - sadly no deer:( we decided to coninue along the river path to Nacton Shores where we stopped for breakfast! It was then back along some tiny lanes through Nacton, Bucklesham, Trimley and home. So we were out for three hours covering over 20 miles and then I spent the afternoon windsurfing - top day :)
